Earthing Yoga - The New Wellness Trend on 2022
For decades yoga has been allowing us to connect with our body, mind and soul, creating a state of balance that keeps us aligned throughout our daily life.
On the other hand, Earthing has been gaining more and more recognition from the scientific community, proving the benefits of keeping connected with the ground beneath us, allowing our bodies to get rid of any excess of electrons, restoring the natural electric balance of the body.
So, if yoga helps us connect with our internal being and earthing helps us connect with the earth we live in, isn't it logical to somehow connect these two amazing practices together?
In this article we will talk about how this two practices converge under Earthing Yoga
Yoga definition
Yoga is a systematic practice of physical exercise, breath control, relaxation, diet control, positive thinking, and meditation aimed at developing harmony in the body, mind, and environment. The practice entails low-impact physical activity, postures (called asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation, and meditation.
This term is based on how the energy field in the Earth's crust maintains the electrical stability of our bodies, thus serving as a basis for vitality and health. Is the practice of touching the Earth to allow electrons accumulated in your body to flow into the earth restoring its natural balance.
Connecting physically and spiritually
Yoga has taken a big role in maintaining the connection between our body and soul in the sometimes overwhelming modern world. It helps us develop our spiritual side , keeping this fundamental aspect of human life in check, providing us purpose and meaning.
At the same time, we have been disconnecting from the earth, literally separating from it. We wear shoes that isolate us from the ground beneath us and live in tall buildings that take us apart from it... adding to this, we are surrounded by invisible currents of electricity that impact our body in a tremendous way. The so called electromagnetic field or EMF creates instability in our body, making it very attractive for free radicals to live in, gradually creating chronic diseases that we all well know today like insomnia, stress, chronic pain, artritis, cancer, alzheimer, among others.
Earthing takes us back to our natural state, in which we are connected with the earth allowing our body to charge itself and restore its energy, synchronizing with the balanced state of the earth.
As we evolve as a species, we have to be aware that our bodies have to adapt to the environment that we are creating for ourselves otherwise we will continue to live in a hostile environment in which we don't give the tools our body needs to adapt.
The good news is that with earthing and yoga, you are taking a huge step into solving this highly underrated problem.
How does it work
As you can imagine by now, earthing yoga is the practice of doing yoga while keeping you grounded or in contact with the earth. The only rule is to always keep one part of your body in contact and make sure you are not using any accessory that isolates you from it.
To do so you have two options:
The first is to practice in nature, in your garden if you have one, the beach or anywhere you have access to the ground.
The second option for those who don't have access to the ground is to use a grounding yoga mat that allows you to keep grounded while practicing, connecting to the grounding system of your home.
What can I expect from it
The main benefit will be evident in terms of recovery. You will induce less inflammation in your muscles during and after practice, allowing them to heal faster, gaining strength and elasticity. On the other hand there should be a significant improvement in the quality of your sleep, depending on the time you practice and the exposure to EMF you have during the day.
Both earthing and yoga are directly linked to the reduction of cortisol levels which is the hormone of stress, allowing your nervous system to stay in a parasympathetic state, feeling relaxed and in a state of joy.
We highly encourage you to try this amazing practice out and give a boost to your health and body balance.
